Recommendations/Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting/House Rules
1) Hot Water: if there is no hot water, it means the hot water switch was turned off. Go to the panel outside the kitchen, look for the switch labeled “hot water” and flip it to the UP position.
2) Cable TV: If, for any reason, you need to restart the cable TV, the password is 1-9-8-0.
3) House Rule 1: This is a reminder to please DO NOT FLUSH ANYTHING including toilet paper down the toilet. The plumbing systems in the center of Athens are very ancient and easily clog/back up. Please put all paper in the bins near the toilet. They can be emptied in the large garbage bins along the street. Thank you for your understanding.
4) House Rule 2: We want you comfortable but please be mindful not to leave the AC/Heating on when you are not in the apartment. The AC/Heating works well and becomes cool/warm quickly so there is no need to leave it on while you are out. Please help us protect the environment and keep our electricity bills low!
Recommedations!
Restaurants/Tavernas
5 minutes or less from the apartment
Koukaki/Acropolis (near the apartment): The whole Drakou corridor offers local dining. A couple of noteworthy places include:
1) Skoumbri: Drakou 16: great, local Greek taverna with fish, seafood, traditional Greek food
2) Riza Riza: Drakou 19: nice cocktails, good vibe (https://www.facebook.com/RizaRiza.Athens)
3) Kalamaki Bar/Restaurant: Drakou 15: skewers, salads, great place for midday snacks or light meals (https://www.facebook.com/Kalamaki-BAR-213901218687365/)
4) Takis Bakery: 14 Misaraliotou Street, this is probably the best bakery in Athens and it is a 5 minute walk from the apartment. (https://www.facebook.com/takisbakery)
5) Opos Palia at Veikou 2: https://www.facebook.com/opospaliakafenio/. This is near all the touristy restaurants but it is not such a tourist trap. My friends and I eat here regularly. 🙂

Clubs:
If you want to go dancing/clubbing, we recommend going to Gazi Square. There are lots of bars and clubs in that area.
Other things!
Don’t forget to take in the sunset one day at Mount Lycabettus. You can walk (30 -45 minutes from the apartment or take a taxi to the base).

A nice first full day from the apartment might be:
· Go to Takis Bakery (closed on Sundays) to get something for breakfast, go across the street to Coffee Dive for your coffee and then take a leisurely walk up the Dionysiou Areopagitou pedestrian walkway to the Open Air Bus. Take the 90 minute ride and return to the base of Acropolis.
· Go to the Acropolis Museum
· Walk to Makrygianni pedestrian walkway or Plaka for lunch and shopping, then go up to the Acropolis main site before it closes.
For dinner one night, maybe head for a roof deck restaurant:
· Inexpensive restaurant on the Plateia of Monastiraki (near A is for Athens Bar) with a roof deck restaurant

· Herodion Hotel with a restaurant roof deck about 10 minutes from the house (but more expensive than the other option).
