Chloe Mason

Name: Chloe Mason

Lives in: Athens, Greece

From: I was born in a small town called Winchester in England and moved to Hanoi, Vietnam within a few weeks. Hanoi is where I grew up.

Occupation:
I’m the founder of mygreekexpatjourney.com, and I’m also a copywriter.

For many years, I had wanted to create a community for expats in Greece where people can be connected to reliable experts. I know how hard it is moving here without knowing the language, and you can get caught up in scams and misinformation if you’re not aware of how things work. I wanted to create an online platform to help people.

In February of 2023, I was next to the Taj Mahal in India when I received the news via Slack that I was getting laid off from my tech job as a partnerships executive. I decided this was my moment to do a pivot and start my own business. The idea had been simmering in the back of my mind for a few months so I decided to finally go for it and put together MyGreekExpatJourney.

What do you love about Athens? I love that Athens has so much diversity in outdoor activities- you can go to the beach and hike up the mountains in the same day! There are not many places where you can do that. Every neighbourhood is unique in its own way, and there’s always something for everyone in this city.

Tell us something most people don’t know about you: An ideal day for me is sitting at home with good book while sitting on my living room sofa, with some hot nice Ayurvedic tea, some scented candles and while it’s raining outside.

Where we are most likely to find you in Lynn’s community? Night yoga

First time you tried Kundalini Yoga? I first tried Kundalini Yoga with a shaman based in Athens, who I was working with to do some therapy/healing.

Tell us your top tip to combat climate change:
I feel like everyone should swap out their cars for bikes when they’re commuting to their day jobs. Parking is so crazy nowadays, it’s so difficult to find anyway, and bicycles are so rare to see in the city of Athens!! I think everyone should invest in one to cut down on carbon emissions…

Anything else you’d like us to know?
We host webinars every two weeks for new expats who are either looking to move to Greece or have recently moved to Greece. These webinars feature more experienced expats and qualified experts giving practical tips on Greek culture, bureaucracy, visas, accommodation, and more. We’re always looking to meet new faces!
