Name: Xanda McCagg

Lives in: I split my time between New York City and Stonington Connecticut, USA

From: I was born in Hartford, Connecticut and raised in Michigan with some time spent in Budapest, Hungary and Vienna, Austria.

Occupation: I am an artist with a background in teaching. My abstract paintings resonate with my early interest in figuration, human behavior and observations of nature. I’ve maintained my main studio In Chelsea, New York City for the past 25 years.

About 12 years ago, I founded my business called “Art Introductions, SEE ART – MEET PEOPLE” as an umbrella for my art practice, art events, and curatorial projects and to bring my art and teaching experience together.

I have exhibited my work in individual and group exhibitions in New York, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, as well as internationally in Paris, France; Budapest, Hungary; and Toronto, Canada. The work is represented in private and corporate collections such as Alliance Capital Management, New York, Posternak Blankstein & Lund LLP, Boston, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York. What do you love about Greece?  I love the light, walking the streets of Athens, the glimpses of the Acropolis or mountains in the distance appearing like magic, the museums, the charm of the people , the beauty of the islands… and you can’t beat the coffee!

Tell us something most people don’t know about you: I often dance to music when I paint!

Where we are most likely to find you in Lynn’s Kundalini Yoga? I just returned from her Ikaria yoga holiday but from US I have to settle for Zoom..  🙂

Tell us your top tip to combat climate change: Plant a garden how ever small

Anything else you’d like us to know?: I love people, to exercise, learn new things, reading and traveling, I have a qi gong practice, I have a wonderful life partner named Tim who is a chef, I have a mini dachshund named Doubledog, and believe in the wonders of the universe!
