Johnny Martin

Name: Johnny Martin

Lives in: I live in the United Kingdom near Bath in the countryside near an unspoiled village called Mells.

From: I was born in Kent in the southeast of England. My dad was in the oil business so we moved a few times – we lived in London, Scotland and Holland.

Occupation: I am a teacher – I demystify business numbers and business jargon. I’m an accountant by training, and I run workshops for a number of universities like the Royal College of Art. I am a partner at the British Library Business & IP Centre in London where I also teach.  I would love to teach in Greece and especially Crete…

My clients are typically people starting their own businesses and executives who want to understand better the financial aspect of the business: the financial statements, financial projections and so forth. I help people understand their accountant or finance director.

Tell us your first three jobs (ever!): My first job was working in a bar, at University I did some modeling (like Ronald Reagan) and my third job was training to be an accountant.

Zodiac sign?: LIbra

Enneagram type: The Individualist, Type 4.

What do you love about Greece? I love what the Greeks have given us – culture, religion, philosophy and medicine. And of course the huge World War II debt, especially to the heroic Cretans for resisting Hitler during that period. I also love the Greek food and the  Greek countryside.

Tell us something most people don’t know about you: I am actually a really good dancer…but I definitely can’t sing!  Most people don’t know I get my shoes made in Greece and am sailing from the United Kingdom to Crete in 2021.

Where we are most likely to find you in Lynn’s Kundalini Yoga (i.e. SUP Yoga, night yoga, etc.): Night Yoga via Zoom.

The first time you tried Kundalini Yoga? It was in Glastonbury – I had a 1:1 introduction and loved it.

Tell us your top tip to combat climate change: Believe that every small thing you do will make a difference – every plastic bag you can reuse and so forth. It all adds up.

Anything else you’d like us to know?:  The pandemic has meant that I have now developed my training to work online either groups or 1:1. I also have an e-learning course and book. I’d like to invite anyone from this community who wants to learn more to go to message me at johnny@johnnymartin.co.uk. I would love to hear from you!
